Double success for Andrew Milner

Society of Construction Law Prize

Andrew Milner has been awarded the Society of Construction Law Prize for Best Dissertation in Construction Law and Practice at the University of Salford and Salford Law school dinner and prize giving ceremony held at The Point, Lancashire Cricket Club in July 2011.
Andrew, whose practice focuses on construction law, dispute avoidance and dispute resolution, won the award on occasion of a dissertation paper entitled : ‘Interpretation of Contracts: The potential for the admissibility for pre-contract negotiations’.
Andrew said: ‘I am very honoured by this prestigious award. Disputes concerning the meaning of building contracts are one of the largest sources of commercial litigation. Projects usually involve protracted correspondence in the tender period leading up to the making of the contract and often work starts before any contract is agreed’.

Emerald Literati Network 2012 Awards for Excellence

Through his success Andrew was invited by Emerald Literati to write a scholarly legal paper dealing with the interpretation of building contracts and the application of law in this area for the International Journal of Law in the Built Environment (“IJLBE”).
Following consultation amongst the journal’s Editorial Team, many of whom are eminent academics or managers, Andrew’s paper has been chosen as a Highly Commended Award Winner at the Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2012. Andrew’s paper was selected as it was one of the most impressive pieces of work throughout 2011.
